“Via Emilia – Arte e Enogastronomia” is the Educational Tour promoted by APT Servizi on April 5th for the occasion of BUY the Regional Tourism Exchange aiming to promote the meeting between touristic offer and demand in Emilia-Romagna region. 16 Tour Operators from the United States, China and Canada were able to visit Reggio Emilia along with a specialized guide, who got them to know the Ghiara Sanctuary, the must-see theatres, historic Sala del Tricolore and our beautiful squares: the characteristic Piazza San Prospero (also known as “Piazza Piccola” which means “Little Square”), Piazza Prampolini (“Piazza Grande” – “Big Square”) also the location for the marketplace and the heart of the city, and the fascinating Piazza Fontanesi.
After discovering the artistic and cultural treasures of the historic center, tour operators finally had the opportunity to appreciate our renowned cuisine with a local-produce-based dinner at a farmhouse just off the city. Here they also admired the sunset with views on the hills of Reggio Emilia. The menu exalted the typical flavours of our territory with ingredients such as Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia and Parmigiano Reggiano, the dinner was naturally accompanied by a good glass of Lambrusco.
The following day – Thursday, April 6th -a Workshop for about twenty TOs was held: in the morning a full schedule of appointments allowed the sellers to present their offer to the buyers, while in the afternoon the space for free encounters favoured to know more about specifically tailored products based on demand/supply. Also on this occasion the interest for Reggio Emilia has been high, especially for its wine and food offer and for cultural/artistic proposals, as well as Nature and Adventure tours to discover our beautiful Apennines were appreciated. In particular, a great enthusiasm was demonstrated by operators coming from Eastern Europe, India, and the United Arab Emirates.
A great experience for all the Tour Operators, who showed curiosity and interest in our territory as a very evolving area for the offer of tourist reception facilities. For ITINERE and CLUB DI PRODOTTO REGGIO TRICOLORE, it was very satisfying hosting international operators, ultimately another push to work better and in close collaboration with these important intermediaries, which are playing a key element of a fantastic puzzle called tourism.
