
FIRST DAY: Arrival in Reggio Emilia and accommodation in the hotel. Welcome lunch in a bistrot. Afternoon at leisure while strolling through Reggio Emilia city centre: a tour can begin from Piazza Prampolini to see the Cathedral that rises in the square, nearby the Baptistery and the Town Hall, with the Hall of the Tricolour Flag, where in 1797 the Italian flag was first adopted. Among the most ancient monuments of the city it is important to remember the Basilica of San Prospero, the Sanctuary of the Beata Vergine della Ghiara with inside The Crucifixion by Guercino and Valli Municipal Theatre. Typical dinner in a restaurant in the city centre. Overnight stay at the hotel.
SECOND DAY: Breakfast at the hotel and leaving from Reggio Emilia. At your choice visit at Torrechiara Castle in the morning. Discover of the famous Parma Ham through the skill of one of the masters of this land. You will follow the ham processing, from the origin to the finished product, ending with a rich tasting session of the famous Parma Ham in its different aging. In the afternoon, after lunch, arrival to Parma and tour of its charming old town centre: Farnese Theatre, St. Paul’s room, Cathedral, Baptistery, St. John’s Church and a walk in the elegant Ducal garden. In the city, we advise to look for the frescoes of the talented painter Correggio. Dinner at leisure and overnight stay at the hotel.
THIRD DAY: Breakfast at the hotel. Visit to an acetaia, to see the production of the Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena with guided tasting. After that, you will be fascinated by the historical city centre of Modena. You will appreciate its ancient heart of Este Duchy capital city with its Ghirlandina tower and Piazza Grande, declared Heritage of Humanity by Unesco in 1997. Free time for lunch. You will enjoy your afternoon, visiting the new Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari, which includes a futuristic automotive design gallery. Continuing the adventure of the “Cavallino Rampante”, you will visit the Ferrari Museum in Maranello: here you will see legendary cars from the past and prototypes for the future, delight of all motor enthusiasts. Typical dinner with Reggio Emilia specialties, in a Michelin starred restaurant, symbol of the local tradition. Overnight stay at the hotel.
FOURTH DAY: Breakfast at the hotel. Free day in Bologna using High Speed Train Station, starting from the new Calatrava Railway Station in Reggio Emilia. In the morning, we advice to discover the “gourmet” side of Bologna, focusing on the medieval market area and stopping in the best food stores selling all sorts of regional and Bolognese specialties: handmade tortellini and tagliatelle, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, mortadella, as well as local cakes. Free lunch. In the afternoon enjoy the authentic atmosphere of Bologna, home to the oldest University of Europe, featuring one of the best preserved medieval centers of Italy, with its 30 miles of old porticos and more than twenty medieval towers. Once back in Reggio Emilia, gourmet dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel.
FIFTH DAY: Breakfast at the hotel and visit to a producer of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese discovering that it is still made with the same ingredients and the same craftsmanship of eight centuries ago when it was born. You will follow the whole process of the production and taste the King of Cheeses in a typical local farm. Lunch in a restaurant of one of the most well-known chef of Reggio Emilia. Departure.
