A professional guide will accompany you to discover the historic centre of Reggio Emilia, the city where the Italian flag was first adopted in 1797. The tour starts with the Tricolour Flag Museum, where you can go through the history of the Risorgimento, from the first Napoleone relics to the Unification of Italy. You can not miss a visit to Piazza Prampolini, known as “Piazza Grande”, with the statue of Torrente Crostolo. Here a must-see visit to the Cathedral, the Baptistery and the Town Hall.
Then, going through Broletto’s porticos you will reach Piazza San Prospero that hosts the city market and where you can visit our Basilica.
Piazza Fontanesi, spacious tree-lined square surrounded by a large number of antique shops, worth a visit. Other places to discover are Madonna della Ghiara Sanctuary, the most authentic example of the emilian baroque, with several works of art like Guercino’s Crucifixion, and the Teatro Valli.
