Day One 

Two days to discover the stunning Lands of Matilde di Canossa, also known as the Great Countess. Guided visit of the Boiardo Fortress, the Spallanzani House and the Clock Tower.

At the very end of the visit, stop off at one of the best local wineries, producer of Spergola wine. Guided visit of the local winery to discover the production process, from the vineyard management to the winemaking.. .and clearly, the wine tasting! 

Transfer to Agriturismo (Farm stay Inn) for a dinner based on delicious local dishes, and overnight.

Day Two 

After a tasty breakfast to delightfully fill your stomach, guided tour in the Castle of Canossa, in the heart of the Matildic Lands. Following, guided visit of the Castle of Rossena, which is one of the most evocative landscape views of the entire Matildic area.

The named “Bassa”: an uncommon, and extraordinary place.

More than a place, Bassa Reggiana is, first of all, an imaginary drawn in the imagination by writers and directors who first loved this corner of Emilia. Bernando Bertolucci told the stories of his homeland in the twentieth century choosing among the different places also Guastalla. Brescello, on the other hand, is famous because cinema has made it the city where you can relive the adventures of Don Camillo and Peppone and the whole small world described in the books of Giovannino Guareschi.

Instead, the painter Antonio Ligabue came and lived in Gualtieri, once he had fled Switzerland. This year tha actor was described by “Volevo nascondermi” (I wanted to hide), a new movie by Giorgio Diritti, presented in world preview at the 70th Berlin Film Festival and then arriving in Italian cinemas, distributed by 01. Elio Germano brings us back to the life of the painter Antonio Ligabue, a man who lived in the only way he could, with the brush tight in his rickety hands or in his mouth transfigured by a grimace of pain and a palette full of those iridescent colors that reality did not allow him.

The Po River and its land: an indissoluble relationship

However, the real protagonist of this area is the PO river, which has determined the lives of those who lived in these areas. Its flow is sometimes tumultuous, sometimes slow course, and it marks the territory by creating microsystems with typical flora and fauna. Here, where dialects are in common use. At the beginning of the 1900s the same reclamation marked the landscape with water pumps, ditches, barrels, bridges, expansion tanks, canals, and banks. Rural farmhouses and mills testify, however, what the ancient rural economy that revolved around the river was. From June 2019 the middle Po Valley of the Po that in Emilia Romagna crosses the provinces of Piacenza, Parma, and Reggio Emilia, has been proclaimed UNESCO MaB Biosphere Reserve for the protection of biodiversity.

A unique territory, far from the stereotype of the classic natural area, but with an environmental and landscape richness that few large urban centers boast: an anthropized fabric where a river and a hill rich in habitats and historical and architectural excellence coexist together with a metropolitan area. Our two-day journey will make us live and discover the landscapes and the excellence of the Great River, together with Guastalla, the capital of the Gonzaga duchy. The center has ancient origins, but under the Gonzaga reached its maximum splendor. It is from here that our itinerary will start, choosing between walks along the Crostolo river with its naturalistic oases and its villages of Sabbiaroli, the bicycle trip to Boretto and Brescello; or in the direction of Gualtieri, Luzzara or Riva di Suzzara; or even a Canadian canoe ride, where contemporary history has left traces like the three ships sunk during the Second World War. For five months, from 24th October 2019 to 8th March 2020, the Cloisters of Saint Peter in Reggio Emilia will host one of the Renaissance masterpieces: the “Portrait of a Young Woman” by Correggio.

The work, an exceptional loan from the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, arrives in one of the lands of choice of the artist, five centuries after its execution. Thanks to an agreement signed by the city and the Palazzo Magnani Foundation with the Russian institution, it will be possible to admire the painting and learn about its history. An artistic work of enigmatic charm, it’s one of the many masterpieces of Italian genius that “emigrated” abroad. The Portrait of a Young Woman by Antonio Allegri called il Correggio (c.1489-1534) is certainly the most important artwork painted by the artist. Nothing is known about the commission and the subsequent collectible events of the painting: it’s assumed that it dates back to 1520, to the same period in which the artist frescoed the Camera della Badessa (or Camera di San Paolo) in Parma. His first modern appearance is in the collection of Prince Yusupov in the Russia of the early twentieth century.

Even the name of the lady is a mystery and there are many hypotheses about her identity. The young woman belongs for sure to high rank as shown by the details of her clothing. Furthermore, from the elegance of the clothes, the sobriety of the jewels and the decoration of the hairstyle we can assume that the woman lived in the context of the nobility of northern Italy. Beyond her identity, we’re looking at one of the most incisive artworks of the Correggio painter, probably recently returned to Emilia Romagna from the trip to Rome, where he studied the works of Michelangelo and Raphael.

The event (organized by Claudio Franzoni and Pierluca Nardoni together with the Ermitage Museum) promises to be something unique and prestigious for Reggio Emilia and for the people who won’t miss the view of one of the most famous Correggio works.

From November 16th 2019 to March 8th 2020, Palazzo Magnani and the Cloisters of San Pietro in Reggio Emilia will host the exhibition “What a wonderful world. The long history of the ornament between art and nature“, a compelling and unprecedented journey through the centuries, to understand how the decoration and the ornament tell about us and the world.  The exhibition – promoted by the Palazzo Magnani Foundation, in collaboration with the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, the Province of Reggio Emilia, the Emilia Romagna Region and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism – will retrace some of the many aspects in which the action is expressed Ornamental through over 200 works, coming from important private collections and national and international museum institutions, including the Hermitage Museum of St. Petersburg, the Uffizi Galleries in Florence and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice.

In addition to some pieces of prehistory, the exhibition will go through more than two thousand years of art history, from the Roman age to the Middle Ages up to the present day, through various sections and itineraries. These will allow the visitor to discover how the art of ornament has been influenced and influenced the reality that surrounds it, from nature to writing, passing through jewels. The exhibition intends to investigate the origins and developments of the multifaceted marriage between everyday life, art, and decoration and then to deal in detail with the experiences of so much twentieth-century art and the new millennium in which the themes of the Ornament were again put back at stake.

One of the itineraries offered by the exhibition will be entirely dedicated to a local experience that blossomed in the first half of the twentieth century, that of Ars Canusina invented and conducted by the Reggio Emilia psychiatrist Maria Bertolani Del Rio (1892-1978), in the San Lazzaro asylum of Reggio Emilia. During the period in which she worked in the Marro Colony, in fact, Professor Del Rio introduced a largely unpublished curative practice, which aimed to use art in the manual work process as an educational and therapeutic tool. The Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia, as part of its FESTIVAL APERTO 2019, also offers a series of shows and concerts, which, due to assonance or dissonance, approach the theme of the Ornament, such as Event (November 13), Dall’alto (November 14), Avishai Cohen Trio (November 15) and Kronos Quartet & Mahsa Vahdat (November 17). The exhibition itinerary will also be enriched by the three-dimensional characterization of some works for the blind and by solutions suitable for the use of visitors according to facilitated methods, in the awareness that art is a privileged way of access to the well-being of all people.

REGGIO EMILIA: the city of Dance. Reggio Emilia is ready to welcome the XI Edition of Festival Aperto, which will be held from September 21st to November 26th, 2019. The stage of these shows will move from the Valli Theater to the Ariosto Theater, to the Cavallerizza Theater, Aterballetto Foundry, and Maramotti Collection.

Furthermore, from October 10th to 13th the Fifth Edition of NID – New Italian Dance Platform. The goal is to bring and introduce new and stimulating elements in the relationship between programming and production. Four days to discover the best productions of Italian dance.

The 5th Edition of the NID Platform will be held in Reggio Emilia, a city with a long tradition of dance appreciation renowned for the discernment of its audiences and one of the country’s most significant site for the production, attending and distribution of live performance. Over the years, Reggio Emilia has come to be known as a European “Dance Capital” thanks to the Emilia-Romagna Region’s constant support of auteur dance, a steadily increasing production of performances, and the professional expertise and qualities brought to the fore by both its time-honored dance companies and emerging young artists. Reggio Emilia’s theatre system itself is veritably unique in Italy: the three theatres managed by Fondazione I Teatri,  Teatro Municipale Valli, Teatro Ariosto, and  Teatro Cavallerizza are positioned around one single square at the heart of the city. The setting is completed by La Fonderia, the headquarters of Fondazione Nazionale della Danza/Aterballetto, a nearly unique example in Italy of the conversion of an emblem of a city’s economic-industrial history into a cultural hub dedicated to dance in its many forms of expression.

The theme of the Festival Aperto 2019 will be “A mystery that is a richness: the moon. A wealth that is a mystery: diversity”. The Festival is placed in this metaphorical threshold between inside and outside: tradition and invention, memory and research, light and shadow, home and travel. During the event, classical music concerts will take place on the Reggio Emilia stage, projects combining art, dance, and music, but also shows that combine technology and dance.

Moreover, Reggio Emilia is renowned not just only for the dance and its theatres, but also for its history, art, food, and landscapes. From the castles on the hills to the museums in the lowland, visiting a Traditional Balsamic Vinegar factory or tasting Parmigiano-Reggiano, there is no way that you’ll forget your visit.

Antonio Fontanesi e la sua Eredità. From 30 March to 14 July 2019 the Civic Museums of Reggio Emilia host, in honor of the two hundred years since its birth, some of the most significant works of the artist from Reggio Emilia.

Considered one of the most influential painters of the 1800s, Fontanesi, he devoted himself mainly to landscape painting in which light has always played a central role. In fact, he favored the evening or morning time which, due to the myriad of colors and shades, allowed the artist to make the most of the light to create works in which one can see a strong sense of melancholy but also of romance. He can be considered another deeper reflecting the feelings of the human soul.

The exhibition will be, through five sections, but of everyday life, as if to highlight the influence it has had on artists who, after him, focused their works on the reproduction of landscapes with the need to transmit their most intimate emotions.

For the occasion, a tour package is planned which includes, in addition to the guided tour of the Civic Museums to discover Fontanesi, also a tour to discover the city. There will also be tastings of typical products from the region and visits to modern artworks, such as the Parco Progetti Calatrava and the Maramotti collection.

Fontanesi e la Città del Tricolore

In the evocative location of the Acetaia Sereni Farmhouse will take place on 11 April, the second appointment of our “Corporate Engagement” event format, dedicated to companies to get to know Itinere.
The event is addressed to HR and Marketing Managers, event and communication organization specialists to discover a new relational marketing lever; during the evening, from 17:30 there will be a visit to the vinegar factory, the presentation of our company and a workshop led by Luca Ferri, who has been Personal and Team Coach, Team Building and Teamwork expert for 22 years.

The project was created to satisfy the need of companies to consolidate relationships with their collaborators in terms of sense of belonging, responsibility and pride of identity, and to settle relationships with their customers.
For some time, companies have been committed to meeting this need, through various initiatives that are now repeated and are exhausting the potential for novelties they once had.

Our experience has allowed us to understand that in order to achieve the desired result we must surprise those who wish to strike with our message and make it the protagonist of a unique experience: this is our goal in this event.

The evening will end around 7.30 pm with an aperitif by the Acetaia Sereni Farmhouse in the green hills of Villabianca in a relaxing atmosphere where the magic of the famous “black gold of Modena” takes place.

A photography exhibition named  “Africa”  in national preview by the Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado. 100 works, portraits, and landscapes, from 9 February to 24 March 2019 in Reggio Emilia. Hosted by Binario49 (Via Turri, 49) and Spazio Gerra (Via XXV Aprile, 2)

One of the most important photographers of our time who has made unique reports in several decades to witness the lives of poor and marginalized people, taking powerful black and white images in the most remote places on the planet. Not only poverty Salgado is very close to the destinies of migrants and with his shots wants to draw the public’s attention to their suffering. During his first trips to the African continent, on behalf of the World Coffee Organization, Salgado began to learn about Africa, immediately understanding that to find solutions to the problems of the Third World, it was necessary that these were documented. Thus, he began a mission to which he dedicated 30 years of his life.

The tool that will take him to realize his projects will be the camera, with which he produces over 40 reports, immortalizing tribes from Namibia to Sudan, the overwhelming nature of the landscapes of the Great Lakes Region, following routes and destinies of refugees in every part of the continent during historical periods and different climatic changes.
