On the hills of Reggio Emilia the Middle – ages has preserved its appeal. The castles, that are the heart of the ancient land of Matilda, hold the charm of the memory of when it was the theater of the European politics, between the eleventh and twelfth century. Departing from Reggio Emilia we will cover the Matildic ring reaching Quattro Castella: here we will discover the four hills where other castles rise. Of these ancent buildings, only the Bianello’s one has still preserved its historical residence structure.
After the visit to the castle, you will reach a local Parma ham producer, where you will discover origins and production techniques of one of the most famous products of our region, followed by a tasting and a light lunch with several local products. Then we will visit of Canossa Castle, made famous by Enrico IV, who after three days of exile, obtained the absolution from the Pope in 1077.
After the tour, you will have the possibility to admire in first person the Canossa Castle, one of the most exciting landscapes glimpse of the entire matildic area.
